A meeting of the Parish Council was held on 8.10.07. There were no apologies of absence. The meeting proceeded with a Democratic half hour in which eleven members of the public were present.
The Chairman explained at the beginning of the meeting that Mr John Wykes was unable to be present to talk on conservation matters in the village. The date for comments had been extended to November.
Items raised were,
Ice on the road at East St. Mr Legg had spoken to Mr and Mrs Scrace, after discussion it was decided that perhaps water from under the house could be piped from the rear of the property, Mr Legg would enquire into this.
Concern was also expressed at the blocking of the footpath by the Sawmills and the overgrowth of brambles e.t.c. and overgrowth in the river. Col. Fanshaw said that an engineer had inspected the river and that it would be cleared week beginning 8.10.07.
A copy of the parish comments regarding the application for the Tithe Barn was read.
The clerk would again write to Dorset CC as a young person in the village had been knocked off his bicycle.
Concern was expressed regarding the speed of traffic through the village and a letter had been received from Mrs G Barratt to this effect. The clerk would put a notice in the Chalkstream asking parent and driver to take care.
The meeting of the Parish Council proceeded. There were no declarations of interest. The minutes were signed by the chairman.
From the minutes:
Magna Housing Association. The clerk reported that she had spoken to Andy Lloyd D.C.A. and had asked for a full report…. That it would be sent, that Magna understood from a site visit that the original site was to the approval of most people, but that the centre site in Three Acres was felt to be more suitable, however this did have several covenants on it, this smatter being investigated.
The clerk explained that the Sydling Parish Council Play Area Account had been opened. Members of the committee were Mr C Legg and Mr R Blackmore. Mr I Tucker inspected the play area regularly. The clerk had given Mrs Romy Barton the proposed constitution and read the criteria re insurance from Alliance Cornhill as this was a sub committee of the P.C. A cheque for £1000 was received from Scottish and Southern Energy. Grateful thanks were given to Mr A Newman who had arranged this and obtained the money for the play area.

Dog Control Order 28.8.07 was received from W.D.D.C. This applied to any land within the boundaries of W.D.D.C. which is open to the air and to which the public are entitled or permitted to have access. This would be placed in the Chalkstream and the bus shelter.

The clerk would write regarding the cutting of the verges along the valley road, also the environment agency regarding the talk on flood prevention. The gate near Waterfall Cottage was still blocked the clerk would write to Mr J Fitzharris also to M/S Cartwright at Little Egret as it had been blocked by vehicles. The clerk would write to West Dorset Services asking if a waste bin could be provided for the village green. She would also write to D.C.C. asking how the speed limit for the village was progressing.
With this the meeting was adjourned arranging to meet on December 3rd.
