Sydling’s Annual Duck Race

SYDLING DUCK RACE 2017

Despite the conditions being rather damp and chilly for the Duck Race on 30th April, a good number of hardy villagers turned up to support the event.

A total profit of just over £570 was a great outcome so thank you to the folks who organised the event and for all those who bought ducks and enjoyed a cream tea.

The results were:

MAIN RACE:

1st          Graham Millard
2
nd          Dianne & Jerry Simpson
3
rd           Graham & Shell Elson
4
th           Peter & Nicola Radbourne

CELEBRITY DUCK RACE   Winner was Agatha Tippet

A short 4min video of the Duck Race is included below but it could take some while to download in which case use the following You Tube direct link:

NOTE:  Be aware that the video might not start at the beginning so you may need to ‘drag’ it back.  Also, at the end of play, other Sydling videos, or videos of a similar nature might come up on the screen.

About the Village Hall

village hall iconSydling St. Nicholas Village Hall was build in 1939 thanks to a gift of land by Winchester College, and the effort of Major Miskin and the village community.

The Hall is used for many purposes including Country Dancing, Toddler and Pre-School Groups, a Youth Drama Group, a Monthly Lunch Club, Keep Fit, Badminton, Short Mat Bowls and many Club and Society meetings. It is also an excellent venue for private parties large and small. The Hall has a working stage with footlights a PA and Loop System. It is used by professional and amateur drama groups. There is seating for 120.

In 2000 Sydling Village Hall Committee put forward a successful bid to the Lottery Fund. This enabled us to build an extension and refurbish the kitchen to the highest standards. The Hall now has full disabled access, and is an excellent venue for private functions especially wedding receptions.

A very enjoyable way to see the Village Hall and the beautiful village is to come to our annual Open Gardens Weekend. This is held on the Sunday and Monday of the May Bank Holiday.
